Netflix’s hit supernatural series Wednesday has officially completed filming its highly anticipated third season, marking another major milestone for the Jenna Ortega-led phenomenon.
The streaming giant confirmed the production wrap on Wednesday, September 30, appropriately sharing the news alongside a new image of Ortega returning as Wednesday Addams. In the newly released photograph, the famously deadpan character is seen at her typewriter, dressed in her signature black-and-white style as she appears deep in thought.
Netflix’s announcement confirms that principal production on Season 3 has now concluded. The news comes after months of filming that began earlier this year near Dublin, Ireland. Production also included filming in Paris, expanding the visual world of the series beyond its familiar Nevermore Academy setting.
Ortega returns as Wednesday, with several familiar faces also expected to reprise their roles. The returning cast includes Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.
Season 3 is also bringing a number of major new additions to the Wednesday universe.
Winona Ryder, Eva Green, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer are among the newly announced cast members. Green will portray Ophelia Frump, Wednesday’s previously missing aunt and Morticia’s sister.
Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance have also joined the season in guest-starring roles, further expanding the ensemble surrounding Nevermore and the Addams family.
Plot details remain tightly guarded. Netflix has previously teased that the new season will introduce new students and teachers while exploring previously hidden Addams family secrets. The creators have offered few concrete details about the story, leaving fans to speculate about what Wednesday’s next mystery will involve.
The conclusion of filming does not mean the series is immediately ready for release. The production now moves into post-production, where editing, visual effects, music and other finishing work will be completed.
Netflix has not yet announced an official premiere date for Season 3. However, the completion of filming brings fans one step closer to Wednesday’s return.
For now, Netflix has given viewers only a brief glimpse of what lies ahead but with Wednesday Addams back at her typewriter, Nevermore’s next chapter is officially taking shape.
