Pakistan’s weekly inflation has increased by 0.46 percent. The annual inflation rate has now reached 15.28 percent, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The latest weekly report shows continued pressure on prices of essential goods. Inflation has increased mainly due to food items and daily-use commodities.
The report states that prices of 25 essential items increased during the week. At the same time, 11 items became cheaper. Prices of 15 items remained unchanged.
Food prices showed a noticeable rise. Tomatoes recorded a sharp increase of 16.65 percent. Potatoes became 6.82 percent more expensive. Chicken prices also increased by 5.60 percent.
Other essential items also saw price hikes. Washing soap increased by 1.16 percent. LPG prices rose by 0.51 percent. Prices of milk, yogurt, mutton, and eggs also went up during the week.
Some relief was recorded in a few commodities. Onion prices dropped by 2.98 percent. Garlic became 2.51 percent cheaper. Banana prices also declined by 1.28 percent.
Fuel prices showed a slight decrease. Diesel fell by 1.06 percent, while petrol decreased by 0.52 percent. Prices of pulses and wheat flour also registered a minor reduction.
Despite some relief in fuel and a few items, the overall trend shows continued inflationary pressure. Essential food items remain the main driver of price increases in the weekly data.
