A possible reunion between Jay-Z and Kanye West at the Super Bowl LXI halftime show has sparked excitement among hip-hop fans. However, a senior Roc Nation executive has cast doubt on the possibility of the two former collaborators sharing the stage again.
Entrepreneur Rodney O’Neal McKnight recently expressed hope that the rappers would put their differences aside and reunite during the February 14, 2027, halftime show.
In a social media post, McKnight urged both artists to resolve their differences before the event, writing that Jay-Z and Kanye West had until February 14 to work things out and appear together on the Super Bowl stage.
However, Lenny S., a senior music executive at Roc Nation, responded to the post with a comment suggesting that fans should not overlook the history behind their strained relationship.
“This game is sadly developing too much amnesia,” he wrote.
His response appeared to refer to the longstanding tensions between the two rappers, particularly West’s previous public remarks about Jay-Z and his family.
Jay-Z and Kanye West previously shared one of hip-hop’s most successful creative partnerships. Their collaborations, including the 2011 album Watch the Throne, earned widespread recognition and established them as an influential musical duo.
However, their relationship deteriorated over the years following a series of public disagreements and personal remarks. This has left fans uncertain about whether the former collaborators could ever reunite professionally.
Meanwhile, Kanye West’s personal life has also returned to the spotlight following comments by his former wife, Kim Kardashian, about the impact of his mother’s death.
In her new book, Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, Kardashian recalled briefly meeting West’s mother, Donda, at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas.
She said she had not yet started dating the rapper at the time but remembered Donda as a particularly kind person who meant everything to her son.
Kardashian also reflected on how losing his mother affected West, suggesting that his life might have taken a different direction had she been alive.
She said she believed he would always feel lost without her and thought many things could have been different if Donda had not passed away.
Donda West died in November 2007 at the age of 58. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, her death was linked to coronary artery disease and complications following cosmetic surgery.
While fans continue to hope for a Jay-Z and Kanye West reunion, the latest comments from Roc Nation suggest that their past differences remain a significant obstacle.
