Zac Affleck breaks silence on Jennifer’s divorce filing

Zac Affleck has opened up about his marriage to Jennifer Affleck after news emerged that his wife had filed for divorce, revealing that he learned about the legal proceedings through a news report. The reality television star addressed the situation publicly, sharing his side of the story while making it clear that he does not want people to criticise Jennifer over their separation.

The news of their split surfaced on Wednesday, November 4, when Jennifer reportedly took legal steps to end their seven-year marriage. According to court documents, she submitted a divorce petition to a Utah court on Tuesday, November 3. She also filed a proposed parenting plan concerning their three children, Nora, Luca and Penelope.

Zac responded to the reports through a video shared on his TikTok account on Thursday, November 5. During the video, the 30-year-old revealed that he had first heard about the divorce filing from a reporter rather than directly from his wife.

“I found out from a TMZ reporter about the filing,” Zac said. However, he explained that the possibility of ending their marriage had been discussed between them for quite some time.

According to Zac, Jennifer had expressed her unhappiness about their relationship nearly a year earlier, following his appearance on Dancing With the Stars. He recalled that she had approached him and explained that she was unhappy and wanted a divorce.

Zac admitted that he had initially tried to convince her to reconsider her decision. He said he begged her to stay and asked her to give their relationship another chance. He also expressed his willingness to work on their marriage, address their problems and make the changes she wanted.

Despite his attempts to save the relationship, the couple eventually reached a point where they felt separating was the right decision.

During his statement, Zac also addressed speculation surrounding their breakup, saying he wanted to prevent negative stories from emerging about Jennifer. He emphasised that he did not want anyone speaking badly about her and openly accepted his share of responsibility for the problems in their marriage.

“I’ll be the first to say I’ve made plenty of mistakes in our marriage,” he acknowledged, adding that it was simply time for them to go their separate ways.

The reality star also reflected on how young they were when they got married, expressing sadness that their relationship had reached this stage. He explained that he genuinely believed they had something special when they first decided to build a life together.

Zac and Jennifer’s separation comes at a significant time for their family, as they are expecting their fourth child together. Despite the challenges surrounding their relationship, Zac’s public statement focused on respecting Jennifer and avoiding unnecessary criticism of their personal lives.

Jennifer and Zac first met in 2018 through a dating application designed for members of the Mormon community. Their relationship developed quickly, and the couple eventually exchanged wedding vows in June 2019.

Over the years, they welcomed three children together: Nora, Luca and Penelope. Their youngest daughter, Penelope, is currently 15 months old, while Nora is four and Luca is three.

Jennifer announced that she was expecting their fourth child through an Instagram post shared on June 19, 2026. She revealed the pregnancy with the caption “Chapter Four” alongside a photograph showing her growing baby bump.

The couple’s relationship has also attracted public attention through their appearances on the reality television series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Although their marriage is now heading towards divorce, Zac’s recent comments suggest that he wants their separation to remain respectful, particularly as they prepare to welcome another child and continue raising their growing family.
