Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Saif Anwar Jappa has said that between 70 and 230 millimetres of rain has been recorded at different locations across Rawalpindi.

He said the highest rainfall was recorded in New Katarian, where 230mm of rain was measured.

Shamsabad received 203mm of rain, while 206mm was recorded in Chaklala. Golra also received significant rainfall, with 157mm recorded in the area.

The PDMA director general has urged residents living around Nullah Lai to take precautionary measures in view of the heavy rainfall.

He advised citizens to remain alert and avoid unnecessary movement near the drain, particularly as water levels could rise following continued rainfall.

Saif Anwar Jappa said district administration officials and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) staff were present in the field.

He added that authorities were working to ensure the timely drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas.

The administration is monitoring the situation closely to prevent urban flooding and protect residents in vulnerable locations.

Meanwhile, the authorities have also intensified precautionary measures around Nullah Lai following the heavy downpour in Rawalpindi.

According to the PDMA chief, the current spell of rainfall is expected to continue until September 5.

Residents have been advised to follow official instructions and remain cautious during the ongoing rainy spell.
