Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has said the Sindh government has taken several decisions regarding the killing of Mir Raza, including the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incident.

Speaking at a press conference at the KMC head office, Wahab said the chief minister could not personally conduct an investigation into the case, which was why the government decided to establish a judicial commission.

He said the government wanted to communicate its decisions to the public and ensure that the facts surrounding the case were brought to light.

Wahab expressed solidarity with the family of the deceased and said the person responsible for the incident must be identified and brought before the law.

He said the circumstances that led to Mir Raza’s death should be fully investigated and anyone found responsible should face punishment.

The Karachi mayor said he had visited Mir Raza’s family twice. During the visits, he held discussions with the family and conveyed the government’s message. He added that the interior minister had also accompanied him on one of the visits.

According to Wahab, the family has demanded departmental action against the police. He said the judicial commission would examine the police’s role in the investigation along with other aspects of the case.

Wahab said the government’s priority was to satisfy the bereaved family by ensuring a transparent investigation and establishing the facts.

He said the Sindh Cabinet had approved the formation of the judicial commission. Following the approval, a letter was sent to the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court regarding the commission.

The commission will have 30 days to investigate the matter, determine the facts and prepare its report.
