6 militants killed in Lower Dir CTD operation

Six wanted militants were killed during a successful operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lower Dir on Tuesday.

LOWER DIR: Six wanted militants were killed during a successful operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lower Dir on Tuesday.

According to CTD officials, the operation was launched on intelligence-based information regarding the presence of militants in the area. Security personnel surrounded the hideout and exchanged fire with the suspects.

As a result of the operation, six militants were killed on the spot. The deceased militants were reportedly involved in several acts of terrorism in the region.

CTD officials said the militants were wanted in connection with the attack on a police check post and the killing of police officer Muhammad Ismail. They had been under surveillance for their involvement in militant activities.

During the operation, security forces recovered six Kalashnikov rifles and three hand grenades from the possession of the slain militants. The seized weapons have been taken into custody for further investigation.

Officials added that some militants managed to escape during the exchange of fire. A search and clearance operation is continuing in nearby areas to trace and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the successful operation conducted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the CTD.

He commended the bravery and professionalism of the security personnel involved in the action. He said the courageous officers had foiled the malicious designs of the militants and ensured the safety of the people.

The interior minister stated that the entire nation was proud of the sacrifices and dedication of the CTD and police personnel in the fight against terrorism.

The operation comes as security forces continue efforts to eliminate militant networks and restore peace and stability in the region.
