Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan has vowed to introduce transparent governance and merit-based administration if his party is elected to power in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Aleem Khan said his party would place public service above political interests and ensure accountability at every level of government.

He said he would personally accept responsibility if corruption took place under an IPP government in Azad Kashmir.

The IPP chief promised to end the long-standing problems faced by the people of the region and pledged to improve governance, education and public services.

He said the party’s top priorities include quality education, modern civic facilities and transparent administration.

Aleem Khan assured voters that every decision concerning Azad Kashmir would be made according to the wishes and aspirations of its people.

He said all promises made to the people during the election campaign would be fulfilled if the party was entrusted with power.

The federal minister stressed that practical work and public service were the true purpose of politics and that political parties should focus on solving people’s problems rather than making empty promises.

He announced plans to ensure that every child in Azad Kashmir has access to education and said achieving universal education would remain one of the government’s major goals.

Aleem Khan also called on political parties and candidates to respect democratic values and accept election results with patience and maturity.

He said political parties that remained in power for years should first evaluate their own performance before criticising others.

Referring to the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, he claimed that the IPP had fielded strong candidates and was receiving encouraging public support in various constituencies.

He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and said the premier remained determined and confident during difficult circumstances.

Aleem Khan revealed that he had requested the prime minister to allow him to concentrate fully on the Ministry of Communications in order to accelerate infrastructure development projects across the country.

He said work on highways and motorways was progressing rapidly in different regions of Pakistan.

According to him, several road projects were currently underway in Gilgit-Baltistan as part of efforts to improve connectivity and promote economic activity.

He said work on linking the Sukkur-Karachi Motorway with the country’s seaport network would begin during the current year.

Aleem Khan further announced that the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway was being expanded from four lanes to six lanes to accommodate increasing traffic volumes.

He said construction of the Lahore-Sialkot-Kharian-Islamabad Motorway was also continuing and would reduce travel distance between Lahore and Islamabad by nearly 100 kilometres.

The communications minister also announced plans to extend the Islamabad-Murree Expressway to Muzaffarabad.

He said a modern highway would also connect Muzaffarabad with Mansehra, providing safer and faster travel facilities for residents of Azad Kashmir.

Aleem Khan described Pakistan’s youth as the country’s greatest strength and urged young people to focus on education, skills and hard work.

He highlighted the lack of infrastructure development in South Punjab and interior Sindh and said several important projects had remained neglected for decades.

He specifically mentioned the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project, saying it had remained pending for nearly 30 years despite repeated promises by previous governments.

The IPP leader criticised former ruling parties for failing to address public issues during their time in office and said people now expected practical solutions instead of political slogans.

Meanwhile, several political leaders, local representatives and community figures from different constituencies of Azad Kashmir announced their decision to join the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party ahead of the upcoming elections.
