Ali Wasim takes charge as DIG Islamabad, vows strict accountability

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Ali Wasim has formally assumed charge of his office and directed senior police officers to strengthen professional policing, protect citizens and take firm action against criminal activities.

Soon after taking charge, Ali Wasim chaired an introductory meeting attended by SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza, SSP Investigation Sulaiman Zafar, SSP Security and Administration Muhammad Shehryar Khan, zonal SPs, circle SDPOs and SHOs. The meeting reviewed the capital’s law and order situation, crime prevention efforts, public safety measures and the overall performance of Islamabad Police.

During individual interactions with the officers, the DIG discussed operational challenges, professional concerns and issues affecting policing in the field. He said maintaining the rule of law, safeguarding citizens and their property, and improving public service delivery would remain key priorities.

Ali Wasim instructed officers to respond promptly to criminal activities and take effective action against lawbreakers without discrimination. He emphasized that every citizen should receive timely assistance and quality policing services, stressing that no one was above the law.

The DIG also issued a clear warning against the misuse of police uniforms or official powers. He said negligence, misconduct and violations of the law would result in strict action, regardless of an officer’s position or rank.

He further said merit, performance and professional ability would determine the evaluation of police officers. Those delivering outstanding results would be encouraged and recognized, while negligence and failure to perform assigned duties would be dealt with firmly.

Ali Wasim called on officers to operate as a coordinated team and strengthen cooperation across the department to improve law and order, prevent crime and ensure greater safety and security for residents of the federal capital.
