Security tightened around Adiala Jail as 435 police personnel deployed

RAWALPINDI: Authorities have decided to further tighten security around Adiala Jail, introducing additional security measures and deploying hundreds of police personnel in the surrounding areas.

According to police sources, eight checkpoints will be established at important locations around the jail as part of the new security plan. The checkpoints will be set up at Dahagal, Gate No. 1, Gate No. 5, the pharmaceutical factory and Gorkhapur.

Additional checkpoints will also be established near a private housing society in Phase 8, as well as in Chakri and Thalian. Police teams will monitor movement around these areas and keep a close watch on people approaching the jail.

A total of 435 police personnel will be deployed to provide security around Adiala Jail. Officials from the district police, Riot Management Unit, Elite Force and Dolphin Force will perform security duties under the new arrangement.

Police sources said additional restrictions would also be imposed along the route from Dahagal to Gorkhapur. Petrol stations, hotels and shops in the area will be closed as part of the security measures.

Unnecessary movement around the jail will be closely monitored. Police personnel will remain on alert at the designated checkpoints to prevent any unauthorised activity in the sensitive area.

The security operation will be supervised by the SP Saddar and the Saddar DSP. They will oversee the deployment of personnel and implementation of the security plan.

According to police sources, the new arrangements will remain in place until further orders.
