LAHORE: The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted post-arrest bail to Falak Javed in a case pertaining to an alleged attack on police outside Zaman Park.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain approved Falak Javed’s bail application after hearing the arguments presented by the defence and prosecution. The prosecution opposed the bail plea and requested the court to reject it.
Falak Javed is facing charges in a case registered at Race Course Police Station in connection with an alleged attack on police personnel outside Zaman Park. The case was registered under various provisions of the law, including charges relating to attacking and obstructing police officials.
During the proceedings, the prosecution maintained its opposition to the accused’s release on bail, while the defence sought post-arrest bail from the court. After considering the arguments, the court approved Falak Javed’s bail application.
Falak Javed is also facing cases related to the May 9 incidents and is currently incarcerated in connection with those cases. Her release in the Zaman Park case does not necessarily mean her immediate release from jail, as her detention in other cases remains a separate legal matter.
The May 9 cases relate to violent protests and attacks on public and military installations that followed the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in 2023. A number of PTI leaders and workers have faced legal proceedings in connection with those incidents.
