New grading policy introduced across major education boards

A new grading policy has been introduced across all educational boards in Sindh, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) and the Mirpur board in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement issued by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), an agreement has also been reached to include students’ B-Form or CNIC numbers on matriculation and intermediate certificates.

The IBCC said the move would make the verification of educational records easier and more efficient.

The commission also announced plans to provide scholarships and overseas educational and study opportunities for board position holders. The initiative is aimed at encouraging high-performing students and providing them with greater academic opportunities.

According to the IBCC, summer and winter camps for talented students across the country will also be revived. The camps are intended to provide high-achieving students with additional academic and learning opportunities.

The commission further said there was an agreement to establish a uniform examination calendar nationwide for both theory and practical examinations.

Steps have also been approved to introduce standardised national guidelines for practical examinations. The guidelines are intended to improve transparency, consistency and the overall quality of the examination process.

The IBCC executive director described the introduction of e-marking in examination boards across Sindh as an important development.
