Balochistan dismisses 26 lady doctors over absence

QUETTA: The Balochistan Health Department has dismissed 26 lady doctors from service over prolonged absence from duty, according to an official notification.

The notification stated that two medical officers had also been dismissed from their positions on the same grounds. In addition, a watchman was removed from service.

According to the department, the doctors and medical officers had remained absent from duty for an extended period without fulfilling their service obligations.

The action comes as part of the provincial health department’s efforts to ensure staff attendance and improve the functioning of public healthcare facilities across Balochistan.

The notification did not provide further details about the duration of the employees’ absence or whether they had been given an opportunity to explain their prolonged absence before the dismissals.

The department’s decision is expected to draw attention to absenteeism among government health workers, particularly in a province where ensuring the availability of medical staff at public hospitals and health facilities remains a major challenge.
