Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has levelled serious allegations against opposition leaders Raja Nasir Abbas and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, questioning their political roles and efforts to secure the release of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan.

Barrister Saif criticised both opposition figures, alleging that their political activities and contacts were not contributing to the efforts aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release.

Allegations Against Raja Nasir Abbas

During the discussion, Saif claimed that Raja Nasir Abbas maintained contacts with influential figures within the establishment but alleged that these interactions were not aimed at securing Imran Khan’s freedom.

He questioned the purpose of these alleged contacts, suggesting that Abbas’s political engagement was not serving the interests of the PTI founder or advancing the party’s position.

Saif also criticised Abbas’s political outlook, claiming that his thinking remained limited to local administrative matters involving deputy commissioners, tehsildars and patwaris.

He further alleged that Abbas had become a senator with the support of former Punjab chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, raising questions about his political standing and contribution to the opposition’s broader strategy.

Mahmood Achakzai Faces Criticism

Barrister Saif also directed sharp criticism towards Mahmood Khan Achakzai, accusing him of failing to play an effective role in negotiations aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release.

He alleged that Achakzai had secured a previously lost electoral seat with the assistance of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif but was unwilling to sit with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for negotiations on behalf of Imran Khan.

Saif further claimed that Achakzai had left Islamabad for Quetta during crucial stages of the negotiation process, when his presence and political involvement were particularly important.

According to the PTI leader, Imran Khan had appointed Achakzai as the opposition leader to facilitate contacts and negotiations with the government. However, Saif alleged that he had failed to deliver meaningful results despite being entrusted with this responsibility.

Claims Regarding Personal Political Contacts

Saif also made allegations concerning Achakzai’s personal political engagements, claiming that he had approached Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to seek assistance regarding the release of his son.

He questioned why Achakzai was allegedly willing to establish contacts with the PML-N leadership over a personal matter but was not demonstrating similar efforts for Imran Khan’s release.

The remarks have brought renewed attention to differences within the opposition regarding negotiations, political coordination and strategies for securing the PTI founder’s freedom.

Opposition Strategy Under Question

Barrister Saif’s statements highlight growing disagreements over the role of opposition leadership and the effectiveness of ongoing political engagement with the government.

His allegations have raised questions about coordination among opposition parties and whether their leadership is pursuing a unified strategy.
