BISP beneficiaries protest illegal deductions in Badin

BADIN: The device holders have continued to deduct significant amounts from the quarterly stipends of the beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) without any actions against them in Tando Bago town of Badin district.

The large number of the women staged the demonstration outside Tando Bago Presss Club to register their protest against the device holders, who according to them, had been absent from their designated centres and venues and were instead disbursing the amount in the remote areas.

” Only those ladies are given their stipends who allow the device owners to deduct Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 without any fear of accountability’ they deplored. The protesting women also accused the device holders of their alleged humiliating attitude towards them and demanded the high-ups of the program to take prompt action against such elements.

They went on to claim that the local officials, who had been tasked with supervising the disbursement of the quarterly instalment, were nowhere to be seen to help them get their full amount. The enraged women warned to widen the scope of their protest if the pountive actions against the corrupt and callous device holders and their agents were not taken.
