According to court documents filed in Broward County, Florida, the comedian whose real name is Scott Thompson, was allegedly threatened over a sexually explicit recording. His attorney, Ronnie Bitman claimed that musician Brian Evans sought $500,000 in connection with the alleged video.

Evans previously performed as an opening act for Carrot Top’s long-running show at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Court filings reportedly state that Evans wanted the payment in exchange for resolving claims involving Thompson. The documents allege that Evans warned that the recording could become part of a public court filing if the matter was not resolved.

An email included in the legal documents reportedly showed Evans requesting $500,000 in immediately available funds. He maintained in the message that he was not threatening to sell silence or control media coverage, but said that making the material part of a public court case could attract attention from the press.

Evans has disputed the characterization of his actions as blackmail. Speaking to Page Six he reportedly said that the email was intended to remain confidential and insisted that he had never threatened to publish a video in exchange for a settlement.

The musician also claimed that the video in question had been deleted a long time ago.

Meanwhile, an update from Carrot Top’s representatives said the comedian is recovering in hospital and receiving the medical care and support he needs.
