CDA recovers 750 kanal in Sector E-12, orders acceleration of development work

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recovered approximately 750 kanal of acquired land from illegal occupants in Sector E-12, removing what officials described as a major obstacle to the development of the long-delayed sector.

CDA Chairman visited Sector E-12 and reviewed the progress of ongoing development activities. During the visit, senior officials briefed him on the recovery of the land, which had reportedly remained under occupation for an extended period and had affected planned development in the sector.

According to CDA officials, the retrieval of approximately 750 kanal represents a significant step towards restoring the acquired land to its designated purpose and enabling development work to proceed in accordance with approved plans.

The chairman directed the relevant departments to accelerate development activities on the recovered land and ensure that construction and infrastructure works are completed according to approved designs, prescribed standards and applicable laws and regulations.

Officials said the anti-encroachment operation was being conducted on the directions of Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and under the supervision of the CDA chairman, in coordination with the Islamabad administration.

The authority said similar operations against encroachments were continuing in different parts of Islamabad as part of its broader effort to protect government and acquired land and remove obstacles to planned development.

During the site visit, the chairman was briefed on the status of development works, land recovery and claims submitted by affectees and allottees. Officials said claims were being examined through the relevant legal and administrative procedures.

According to the CDA, allotment letters have been issued to genuine and deserving affectees whose claims were found admissible after scrutiny and completion of the required legal and codal formalities.

The authority also carried out on-site verification and identified what it described as illegal constructions and occupations on acquired government land. Officials said information had been collected regarding the structures, their occupants and individuals allegedly involved in constructing and subsequently renting out some of the buildings.

The CDA maintained that protection of acquired and government land was one of its primary responsibilities and warned that action would be taken against individuals involved in illegal construction, occupation or commercial use of such land after completion of due legal procedures.

The authority further stated that acquired government land could not be used for private or commercial benefit through unauthorised construction or the renting out of illegally constructed buildings.

At the same time, the CDA said genuine and legally admissible claims of affected persons would continue to be processed according to the prescribed procedures, adding that the legal rights of deserving affectees would be protected.

Senior officials present during the chairman’s visit included Member Planning, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Director General Works CDA, Additional Commissioner General, Additional Commissioner Revenue, the concerned Assistant Commissioner and other officers from the CDA and Islamabad administration.

The chairman directed officials to maintain coordination between relevant departments and increase the pace of development while ensuring quality and compliance with approved plans.

The CDA said the recovery of 750 kanal had created better conditions for advancing development work in Sector E-12, which has faced delays over land-related issues.

The authority reaffirmed its intention to expedite pending claims, remove illegal occupations through due process and provide facilities to allottees and residents.

Citizens and allottees welcomed the removal of encroachments and expressed hope that the recovery of acquired land would help accelerate development and enable Sector E-12 to emerge as a properly planned residential area.

The CDA said development activities would continue in accordance with approved plans and standards, with the objective of completing the sector and addressing the long-standing expectations of its allottees and residents.
