ChatGPT, Claude and Grok face simultaneous outages

Services of several leading artificial intelligence (AI) models around the world experienced simultaneous disruptions. According to Downdetector, a website that monitors internet service outages, users reported disruptions affecting OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude and xAI’s Grok.

According to a U.S. news website, service outages are not unusual but the simultaneous disruption of three major AI models is considered unusual. There were also reports of disruptions affecting Google Gemini. However, Google did not officially announce any service outage.

Anthropic’s Claude status dashboard reported disruptions affecting its “Opus 4.8” and “Opus 5” models while the company said that all other models had returned to their “baseline error rates.”

Meanwhile, OpenAI’s status dashboard showed that ChatGPT and Codex were experiencing “elevated errors” at the time. xAI also reported technical issues with Grok and said that the company was working to resolve the problem.

Microsoft Azure which provides cloud services for all three AI models was also experiencing an outage. Reports suggested that the issue affecting Microsoft’s cloud services could potentially be the reason behind the disruptions experienced by these AI models.
