DRAP to launch online portal for herbal and homeopathic products

Islamabad – The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has decided to digitize the alternative medicines and health products sector and has developed an online portal for the licensing and registration of herbal, nutraceutical and homeopathic products.

According to sources, the online portal is expected to become operational after September 15, 2026. Under the new system, the existing enlistment framework for herbal, nutraceutical and homeopathic products will be replaced with a comprehensive licensing and registration system.

New rules in final approval stage

According to a letter issued by DRAP on August 28, 2026, the new rules are in the final stages of approval by the federal government. The authority has developed a dedicated software portal for receiving and processing applications under the new system.

According to DRAP, the online system aims to simplify business processes, enhance transparency and align the regulatory framework with the government’s digitalization policy.

Through the new portal, applications for licensing and registration can be submitted online which is expected to make the approval process more organized and streamlined.

Awareness session to be held in Rawalpindi on August 31

To familiarize industry stakeholders with the new digital system, DRAP will hold an interactive awareness session at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on August 31, 2026.

The session will begin at 10 a.m. and will provide manufacturers, importers and industry representatives from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi with information about the new online portal and the licensing and registration procedures.

DRAP has also requested RCCI President Usman Shaukat to cooperate in organizing the session and disseminating information among relevant industry representatives.

Various industry associations also informed

Copies of DRAP’s notification have also been sent to various representative organizations from the herbal, homeopathic, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical sectors.

These include the Homeopathic Pharmaceutical and Chemist Association Pakistan (HPCA), Pakistan Tibbi Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PTPMA), Nutraceutical Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (NMAP), Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) and Pharma Bureau.

Major change for industry

The new online system is expected to make the licensing and registration process more transparent and organized for businesses operating in the herbal, nutraceutical and homeopathic sectors.

According to industry circles, the digital system could facilitate application processing, provide greater clarity in regulatory matters and improve coordination with relevant authorities.

According to DRAP, the online portal is aimed at promoting ease of doing business, transparency and digitalization. The implementation of the new system is expected to establish a more integrated regulatory framework for the alternative medicines and health products sector.
