Elite Force head constable martyred in Dera Ghazi Khan laid to rest with state honours

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The funeral prayer of Elite Force Head Constable Muhammad Imran, who was martyred during an encounter with robbers in Dera Ghazi Khan, was offered at the Police Lines with full state honours on Tuesday.

A well-disciplined police contingent presented a guard of honour to the martyred officer. His body was wrapped in the national flag, while senior police officials laid floral wreaths and paid tribute to his sacrifice.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan and Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry attended the funeral along with senior officials and personnel from the police, Rangers, Special Branch, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Crime Control Department (CCD) and other law-enforcement agencies.

Representatives of the bar association and press club, political and social figures, media workers, citizens and members of the martyr’s family also attended the funeral in large numbers.

The AIG and commissioner placed floral wreaths on the body of the martyred head constable and offered prayers for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter.

Muhammad Kamran Khan later met the bereaved family and expressed his condolences. He paid tribute to Head Constable Muhammad Imran for sacrificing his life while confronting the robbers.

The AIG said the martyr’s sacrifice would not go in vain. He vowed that all those involved in the incident would be brought to justice.

He described the police martyrs as a source of pride for the Punjab Police and said the force had a long history of making sacrifices for maintaining peace and protecting citizens.

Kamran Khan said the Punjab Police would continue to perform its duties with courage and would not hesitate to make further sacrifices in the fight against crime.

Following the funeral prayer at Police Lines, the martyr’s body was transported to his native village with full state honours. He will be laid to rest there with the same honours.

Later, AIG Kamran Khan visited Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan to inquire about the condition of another police officer, Gulab Khan, who was injured during the encounter.

The AIG praised the injured officer for his courage and bravery in confronting the robbers.
