Field Marshal Asim Munir urges youth to wage war on misinformation

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has called on young people to play a positive and meaningful role in countering misinformation and propaganda on social media.

He stressed the need for the younger generation to adopt a fact-based approach when consuming and sharing information online.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir held a meeting with students from Harvard Business School during their visit to Pakistan.

The meeting covered a range of regional and international issues. The participants also discussed Pakistan’s security environment and the challenges facing the region.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the importance of peace and stability for regional development. He also spoke about Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

The army chief said young people have an important role to play in the digital age. He emphasised that social media can be a powerful platform for communication and the exchange of ideas.

However, he said the spread of misinformation and propaganda could create confusion and negatively influence society.

He stressed that young people should verify information before accepting or sharing it. He also encouraged them to develop a critical and fact-based mindset while engaging with content on social media platforms.

The discussion also provided an opportunity for the Harvard Business School students to learn about Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global developments.

The students shared their experiences of visiting Pakistan. According to ISPR, they described their visit as an excellent and highly positive experience.

The meeting also focused on Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability. Discussions covered developments in the broader region and their potential impact on Pakistan’s security environment.

Separately, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah.

The meeting focused on bilateral defence cooperation and matters of mutual interest.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen defence ties between Pakistan and Kuwait. They also exchanged views on issues related to regional security and stability.
