A minor fire broke out at the set of actor Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film “Ramayana” in Mumbai, according to officials familiar with the incident.
The incident was confirmed by B.N. Tiwari, president of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), who said that the fire was limited in nature and broke out in a tent located outside the studio where the film’s set was being prepared.
According to Tiwari, the fire was brought under control quickly before it could spread to other areas or pose a serious threat to the film set and the people working at the location. He said the incident resulted in only minor property damage and that no one was injured.
The incident has nevertheless raised questions about safety measures at film production locations, particularly as large-scale Indian productions often involve extensive sets, temporary structures, lighting equipment and other materials that can increase the risk of fire.
Tiwari said filmmakers had recently been instructed to ensure strict safety arrangements following a fire at a nearby location. Despite those instructions, the incident reportedly occurred at the “Ramayana” set due to alleged negligence.
The official stressed the importance of following safety protocols at film sets, where large numbers of cast and crew members may be present at the same time. Any delay in responding to a fire could potentially result in injuries, significant property damage or disruption to production.
However, the quick response to the incident prevented the situation from escalating. The fire was reportedly extinguished before it could spread beyond the tent, allowing the situation to return to normal without major disruption.
The incident comes as “Ramayana” remains one of the most highly anticipated upcoming Indian films. The project has attracted considerable attention because of its large scale, star-studded cast and ambitious plans to present the ancient Indian epic on the big screen.
Ranbir Kapoor is set to play a key role in the film, while the project has generated widespread interest among audiences since details about its production began emerging. The filmmakers have been working on the project with the aim of creating a visually ambitious cinematic adaptation of the epic.
Meanwhile, the producers have also announced the release plans for the first part of “Ramayana.” Through a newly released poster, the filmmakers confirmed that the first instalment of the film will be released worldwide on November 6.
The film is scheduled to reach cinemas in both Hindi and English, allowing it to target audiences in India as well as international markets. The decision to release the film in English alongside Hindi is expected to further expand its global reach.
The fire incident is not expected to affect the announced release plans, as the damage was reportedly minor and no injuries were reported.
With its release date approaching, “Ramayana” continues to remain a major topic of discussion among Indian cinema fans. The latest incident has added another development to the film’s highly publicised production, although authorities and production representatives have indicated that the situation was brought under control quickly.
The filmmakers are now expected to continue production while ensuring that safety measures are strictly followed at the set to prevent similar incidents in the future.
