ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan hockey captain and Olympian Khalid Mahmood has passed away at the age of 75 after a prolonged illness.
Born on December 28, 1941, in Jhelum, Punjab, Khalid Mahmood played as a right-out. He represented Pakistan at several major international tournaments and was part of some of the country’s most successful hockey squads.
Mahmood was a member of the Pakistan team that won the silver medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He also represented the national side at the 1966 Asian Games, where Pakistan secured another silver medal.
