Google has introduced Nano Banana 2 Lite, a new version of its artificial intelligence-powered image generation tool.
According to the company, Nano Banana 2 Lite is significantly faster than previous versions and is also much more cost-effective. The new model can generate an image in just four seconds making it ideal for users who need to create large numbers of images quickly.
Google said the cost of generating 1,000 images with Nano Banana 2 Lite is only $0.034. The company first launched the original Nano Banana in the summer of last year followed by Nano Banana 2 in February 2026.
Google also offers Nano Banana Pro, a more powerful version of the model that requires a monthly subscription.
According to Google, Nano Banana 2 is designed for general-purpose image generation while Nano Banana 2 Lite is optimized for producing a large volume of images at much higher speed.
Nano Banana 2 Lite will be available through Google AI Studio and the Gemini API. Google said the new model will replace the original Nano Banana. The company also announced the release of Gemini Omni Flash expanding its lineup of AI-powered tools.
