ISLAMABAD: The government has announced a slight reduction in the prices of petroleum products with the Petroleum Division issuing a notification regarding the revised rates.

According to the notification, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the prices of petroleum products based on the mechanism approved by the federal government.

Under the new adjustment, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by just 19 paisas per litre, while the price of petrol has been cut by 50 paisas per litre.

Following the reduction, petrol will now be available at Rs342.60 per litre, while the new price of high-speed diesel has been fixed at Rs371.61 per litre.

The latest adjustment represents only a marginal reduction in fuel prices, despite the continued importance of petroleum prices for consumers and businesses across the country.

Petrol and diesel prices have a direct impact on transportation costs, public fares and the prices of goods and services. Any change in fuel prices is therefore closely watched by motorists, transport operators, businesses and consumers.

The revised prices have been announced after OGRA completed the price adjustment process under the government’s existing petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division has formally notified the new rates, bringing the latest fuel price revision into effect.

With petrol now priced at Rs342.60 per litre and diesel at Rs371.61 per litre, consumers will see only a small reduction in their fuel expenses.
