GUJRAT: In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Gujrat has arrested a serving Civil Judge, Sher Hassan Pervaiz, on allegations of accepting a bribe, according to officials familiar with the operation.

The operation was reportedly conducted under the supervision of ACE Gujrat Assistant Director Adnan Shahzad following a complaint alleging that the judicial officer was involved in taking a bribe.

According to the officials, the ACE team arranged a trap and allegedly caught the judge while receiving the marked currency notes. The money was subsequently recovered during the operation, following which the judge was taken into custody after completion of the required legal formalities.

The arrest of a serving judicial officer in an anti-corruption trap marks a significant development for the Gujrat region and has drawn attention within judicial and administrative circles.

ACE officials said the matter was being investigated and that further legal proceedings would be initiated in accordance with the law. A formal case has also reportedly been registered in connection with the allegations.
