Hafiz Naeem-led train march against petroleum levy reaches Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A train march led by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman against the petroleum levy reached Hyderabad as part of the party’s nationwide campaign over rising fuel costs.

The train march was organised by the JI to mobilise public support against the petroleum levy and highlight concerns over the impact of fuel prices on ordinary citizens.

Preparations were made at the railway station in Hyderabad to welcome the participants of the march. The platforms were decorated with Jamaat-e-Islami flags as party workers and supporters gathered to receive the delegation.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman addressed supporters after the train reached the city and spoke about the party’s ongoing campaign against the petroleum levy.

He said there were people who wanted Jamaat-e-Islami’s sit-ins to continue across the country. The JI chief said the party would consult its leadership and workers before deciding on the future course of action.

The JI has been holding protests and sit-ins over fuel prices and the petroleum levy, calling for relief for consumers and measures to reduce the financial burden on the public.

The party has maintained that rising fuel costs have affected household budgets and increased transportation and business expenses. It has also demanded that the government reconsider policies that contribute to higher petroleum prices.

The train march is part of the JI’s broader mobilisation campaign. Party leaders have been travelling to different areas to engage supporters and communicate their demands regarding fuel prices and taxation.

Speaking in Hyderabad, Hafiz Naeem reiterated that the party would determine its next steps after consultation. He said decisions regarding continuing or expanding the sit-ins would be taken after discussions within the party.

JI workers and supporters welcomed the leadership at the railway station, where party flags were displayed across the platforms.

The party is expected to announce its next course of action following consultations over the continuation of its protests and sit-ins in different parts of the country.
