Haideri calls for best treatment for Imran Khan

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has said opposition parties have formed an alliance within Parliament and are now consulting on possible cooperation outside the parliamentary forum.

Speaking at Parliament House, Haideri confirmed that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman is attending the meeting of the united parliamentary opposition.

He said discussions were continuing on expanding political cooperation beyond Parliament. The consultations involve the future direction of opposition parties and their possible joint strategy.

Haideri also spoke about the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan. He said Imran Khan’s release was an issue for his own party.

He stressed, however, that Imran Khan should receive proper and effective medical treatment.

Earlier, Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas had said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was expected to attend the opposition meeting.

Raja Nasir Abbas said the meeting would focus on parliamentary affairs and political consensus. He said opposition parties had agreed to work together at the parliamentary level.

The opposition leader said the parties would coordinate their positions on legislation and other important parliamentary matters.

He added that joint decisions would be taken on issues where opposition parties shared common concerns.

Members of both the National Assembly and Senate are participating in the consultations.

The meeting is being seen as an effort to improve coordination among opposition parties. The discussions could also help develop a common parliamentary strategy on upcoming legislation and other political matters.

At the same time, consultations over cooperation outside Parliament suggest that opposition parties are considering a broader political understanding.

The talks are expected to determine the scope of future cooperation and whether the parliamentary alliance can eventually develop into a wider political arrangement.
