Hamza Shehbaz visits DCD, PIMS during Islamabad tour

PML-N Vice President and former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif visited the Digital Communication Department (DCD) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in Islamabad on Friday.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Federal Secretary for Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil and senior ministry officials received Hamza Shehbaz upon his arrival.

During the visit, the information minister briefed the PML-N leader on the structure, responsibilities and ongoing operations of the Digital Communication Department.

Tarar said digital media had emerged as a key channel for communicating with the public and providing timely information. He stressed the need to use digital platforms effectively to counter misinformation, fabricated reports and negative propaganda concerning Pakistan.

The minister said the department was also working to promote government initiatives and present Pakistan’s national narrative through modern digital platforms. He highlighted the role of the DCD and PTV Digital in advancing the government’s digital communication strategy.

Hamza Shehbaz took a keen interest in the department’s activities and received briefings about its different sections and functions.

He said digital platforms had become an important tool for ensuring quick access to information and communicating government initiatives to the public.

The PML-N vice president also stressed that effective digital communication could help project a positive image of Pakistan internationally and strengthen the country’s narrative.

He appreciated the Ministry of Information’s efforts to expand digital communication and adopt modern technologies.

Later, Hamza Shehbaz visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, where he expressed condolences to a mother who lost her child in the recent hospital fire.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry accompanied Hamza Shehbaz during his visit to PIMS.
