Heavy vehicles, speeding claim three lives in Karachi

Three motorcyclists, including a teenager, were killed in separate road accidents involving heavy vehicles and a speeding vehicle in Karachi, while another teenager sustained serious injuries.

In one incident, a water tanker struck a motorcyclist in Manghopir. Police arrested the tanker driver, Khan Muhammad, in connection with the accident.

In a separate incident, a truck carrying sacks hit a motorcycle near Bhains Colony Mor, killing the rider. The truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Police seized the truck and shifted it to the police station.

The victim’s identity in the truck accident could not be established immediately. Rescue personnel transferred his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a speeding vehicle hit a motorcycle carrying two young men in Defence, killing 17-year-old Ali Faizan and seriously injuring 18-year-old Ibrahim. The driver fled after the collision.

Rescue personnel rushed both injured youths to Jinnah Hospital, where Ali Faizan succumbed to his injuries. Ibrahim remained under treatment.

Police said they had yet to ascertain the residential addresses of the deceased teenager and the injured youth.
