Lahore: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) and the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote academic and research collaboration in the field of cyber security. This historic strategic partnership aims to strengthen cyber security education, innovation, and digital defence in Pakistan.
The agreement was signed by NCCIA Director Muhammad Ali Waseem and UMT Dean Dr. Atif Alvi.
Under the agreement, both institutions will jointly work on research and development (R&D) projects in the field of cyber security and strive to secure national and international research grants.
Furthermore, NCCIA will organize knowledge-sharing workshops and seminars for UMT faculty members and students. Under the Tech 2.0 Initiative, the agency will also provide guidance and mentorship for final-year projects related to Blockchain, Cloud Computing, and Malware Analysis.
Representatives from NCCIA will become part of UMT’s advisory board to help modernize and strengthen the university’s curriculum in line with emerging technological trends and cyber security requirements.
The two institutions will also launch public awareness campaigns on cyber security through their respective social media and digital platforms, aiming to educate citizens about cyber threats and promote a safer digital environment across the country.
The partnership is being viewed as a significant step towards enhancing Pakistan’s cyber resilience and developing a skilled workforce capable of addressing emerging digital security challenges.
