Defense minister Khawaja Asif has spoken on the recent political narrative trending for the treatment of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Khawaja Asif has explicitly condemned the treatment of former prime minister Imran Khan in a private hospital.
Asif has called for equal treatment for all inmates, recalling the incidents of Nawaz Sharif and other politicians which were sent to government hospitals when treatment was required.
Asif also mentioned about taking this issue to the supreme court if a legal room exists.
“If there is an opportunity in the Supreme Court’s decision to register the government’s position, we will certainly do so,” he said.
Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has also said the government will implement the Supreme Court’s decision concerning former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, while clarifying that a review petition has been filed to seek further interpretation of the ruling.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly criticised the federal government for challenging the Supreme Court’s order which directs the transfer of party founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.
PTI rejected the government’s position and accused federal ministers of turning a serious health matter into a political dispute. The party said Imran’s medical condition should be treated as a humanitarian and legal issue rather than a matter of political confrontation.
PTI chairman Barrister Gohar has also denied the speculations that Imran Khan reached a deal with the establishment.
Moreover the chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Billwal Bhutto backs former Imran Khan by showing concern for his right to treatment.
This decision comes after disputes between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) over political and constitutional issues
Some sources have also claimed the transfer of Imran Khan to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad. However, the final decision has not yet been announced.
Sources have also stressed that such transfer would require careful management of security for the former prime minister.
PIMS has reportedly been preparing for the medical diagnosis and treatment of Imran Khan.
