Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has reportedly instructed his party members to resign from all elected assemblies and institutions except the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.

According to reports, the directive was conveyed from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where Khan is currently imprisoned. The message was reportedly delivered to the party’s senior leadership through his legal counsel.

Sources within the PTI leadership claimed that Khan expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s overall parliamentary performance. However, he reportedly exempted the KP Assembly and its members from the resignation directive, as the party currently holds power in the province.

The sources said Khan believes PTI lawmakers sitting in the national and provincial legislatures have failed to achieve the party’s political objectives. They also claimed he was disappointed that the parliamentary strategy had not resulted in any political relief or concessions for him while he remains in custody facing multiple legal cases.

However, another senior PTI source rejected the reports, saying Imran Khan had issued no such instructions and that no decision had been made regarding resignations.

The reported message has reportedly triggered internal debate within the party. Several PTI-backed independent members of the National Assembly are said to oppose the idea of resigning, arguing that remaining in parliament would allow the party to continue pursuing its political agenda.

According to the reports, many lawmakers have suggested that PTI-affiliated independent members should return to the National Assembly’s standing committees and use parliamentary forums to advance the party’s position.

PTI leaders in the National Assembly have maintained that the earlier decision regarding participation in parliamentary committees had been taken by Imran Khan himself. They said no fresh directive has been issued on the matter.
