Iran bypassed US missile defenses with new tactics, Russian media

TEHRAN: Iranian missiles have reportedly demonstrated an enhanced ability to penetrate advanced US missile defense systems by using high-speed flight and unpredictable maneuvering, according to Russian media, as regional military tensions continue to intensify.

The report claimed that Iran’s latest generation of missiles can travel at extremely high speeds while repeatedly altering their flight path before striking their intended targets. According to Russian media, these evasive maneuvers make it significantly more difficult for conventional missile defense systems to detect, track and intercept the incoming projectiles.

The report further alleged that the development has raised concerns within the Pentagon, where officials are said to be assessing how Iranian forces have managed to strike sensitive targets with increasing precision during recent military operations.

Neither the US Department of Defense nor independent analysts have publicly confirmed the claims made in the Russian report. Military experts have previously cautioned that battlefield reports involving missile performance are often difficult to verify independently during active conflicts.

The claims surfaced as the conflict between Iran and the United States entered another volatile phase. On Friday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that two American service members were killed, four were injured and another remained missing after Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeted a US military installation in Jordan.

The incident marked one of the deadliest attacks on US forces in the region in recent months and has intensified concerns about a broader regional confrontation.

Analysts say the effectiveness of missile defense systems has become a key focus of military planners as both offensive missile technology and defensive interception capabilities continue to evolve.
