The female teacher who was injured in the deadly roof collapse at a tuition centre in Lahore’s Kahna area has shared details of the incident and rejected reports that construction work was taking place at the house at the time of the tragedy.

Speaking to the media from her hospital bed, the teacher said the family was not carrying out any construction or renovation work when the roof suddenly collapsed.

She explained that the roof had been repaired and strengthened earlier, but the family did not have the financial resources to construct a reinforced concrete roof.

“We had the roof repaired because that was all we could afford,” she said.

She added that the family was facing financial difficulties and could not bear the expense of building a complete concrete structure.

The teacher also spoke about her family’s economic situation.

She said her husband earns a living by operating a fruit cart near their home.

According to her, the income generated from the fruit cart is limited and insufficient to meet all household expenses.

She said she worked as a teacher to support her family financially and help manage the household budget.

The teacher said the tuition centre was an important source of income for the family and was also providing educational support to children from the surrounding neighbourhood.

The tragic incident took place in the Kahna area of Lahore when the roof of the tuition centre suddenly gave way and collapsed while children were present inside.

The collapse buried several students under the debris and triggered panic in the area.

Residents rushed to the scene and immediately started rescue efforts before emergency teams arrived.

Rescue workers used heavy machinery and manual efforts to remove the rubble and search for survivors trapped underneath.

The accident claimed the lives of 14 children, leaving families devastated and the entire community in mourning.
