Islamabad adorned with national flags to honour armed forces and shuhada on defence & martyrs’ Day

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) joined the nation in observing Defence & Martyrs’ Day on September 6, expressing solidarity with Pakistan’s Armed Forces and paying tribute to the Shuhada who sacrificed their lives for the country.

To mark the occasion, national and symbolic flags were displayed at prominent locations across the federal capital. Major avenues, public spaces, important landmarks and government buildings were decorated in green and white, creating an atmosphere of patriotism, unity and remembrance throughout Islamabad.

The display of national flags at key state buildings, including Parliament House, reflected the nation’s respect and gratitude towards those who have served and defended Pakistan. The decorations also highlighted the sacrifices made by officers and soldiers in protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

CDA and MCI paid special tribute to the Shuhada who laid down their lives while performing their duties. Officials said the sacrifices of the martyrs remain a lasting symbol of courage, commitment and devotion to the nation.

“The sacrifices of our Shuhada are the foundation of our freedom and their courage remains a source of strength for the entire nation. Their memories will always live on in the hearts of the people of Pakistan,” officials stated.

The authorities also acknowledged the sacrifices of the families of the Shuhada, describing their contribution as an important part of the nation’s history. Parents, spouses, children and other loved ones of fallen soldiers have endured immense personal loss while supporting their family members in serving the country.

In a joint message, CDA and MCI expressed profound respect for the families of the Shuhada, saying the entire nation remains indebted to them.

“The loss suffered by the families of our Shuhada is a loss shared by the entire nation. Their strength, patience and sacrifices will continue to serve as a source of pride and inspiration for generations,” the authorities said.

The flags displayed across Islamabad carried a message of remembrance and national unity rather than merely serving as decorations for the occasion. The green and white colours reflected Pakistan’s national identity, while the widespread display served as a symbolic salute to those who gave their lives in the service of the country.

CDA and MCI further emphasised that the true spirit of Defence & Martyrs’ Day lies in strengthening Pakistan through unity, discipline, responsibility and dedicated service.

“The most meaningful tribute to our Shuhada is to work towards building the Pakistan for which they sacrificed their lives — a peaceful, prosperous, strong, clean, green and united country,” the joint statement added.

The authorities also paid tribute to the officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces who continue to perform their duties with courage and dedication.

On Defence & Martyrs’ Day, Islamabad conveyed a message of remembrance, gratitude and unity, reaffirming that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s Shuhada and Ghazis will continue to be remembered with honour.

The capital’s message was clear: the nation remembers its Shuhada, honours its Ghazis, respects its Armed Forces, stands beside the families of martyrs and remains united for Pakistan.
