Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has approved bail applications filed by four Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in cases related to the November 26 protests and a demonstration outside the Supreme Court.
ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the bail applications and granted relief to former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan, Latif Khosa and Faisal Amin Gandapur.
The court directed each of the four accused to submit surety bonds worth Rs5,000 to secure their release in the relevant cases. Their bail has been approved until February 11.
According to the court’s decision, Asad Qaiser secured bail in nine cases while Atif Khan received relief in four cases. Latif Khosa’s bail was approved in three cases and Faisal Amin Gandapur obtained bail in six cases.
The latest development follows an earlier decision by the court to cancel the four leaders’ bail after they failed to appear during proceedings. Their previous pre-arrest bail applications had been dismissed because of their absence.
Following the cancellation the PTI leaders submitted fresh applications seeking pre-arrest bail, requesting the court to reconsider their cases and provide them with legal protection.
After hearing the matter, Judge Zulqarnain approved their renewed requests and ordered the submission of surety bonds.
The decision provides temporary legal relief to the four PTI figures in the cases covered by the court’s order. Their bail remains subject to the proceedings and any further directions issued by the court.
