The decision came after a key meeting between representatives of the Karachi Transport Ittehad and the Commissioner of Karachi, where multiple issues affecting transporters were discussed in detail. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement on several pending demands, bringing an end to the disruption in public transport services.

According to sources, one of the major concerns raised by transporters was the biometric verification process required during vehicle transfer procedures. The government has agreed to grant a two-month extension, providing temporary relief to transport operators struggling with compliance requirements.

In addition, authorities assured that the issue of a Rs. 12,000 payment related to third-party insurance would also be addressed, helping to ease financial pressure on transport owners. These assurances played a key role in convincing the transport union to withdraw its strike call.

Both sides also agreed to reconvene after 15 days to review progress on the agreed points and ensure that the implementation process moves forward smoothly. Officials stated that continued dialogue will be essential to prevent future disruptions and to resolve long-standing issues in the transport sector.

Following the agreement, the Karachi Transport Ittehad plans to hold internal consultations with its affiliated organizations. These meetings will focus on evaluating the government’s assurances and deciding the next course of action to safeguard the interests of transporters.
