The New York Knicks’ long-awaited ticker-tape championship parade is taking place today, June 18, in New York City, marking one of the most memorable moments in the franchise’s history. The celebration comes after the Knicks captured their first NBA title in 53 years, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night. The historic victory has sparked days of excitement throughout the city, and many believe the parade could become one of the largest public celebrations New York has ever witnessed.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and is free for all fans to attend, with no tickets required. Supporters were encouraged to arrive early, as viewing areas along the route began filling up from as early as 6:00 a.m.

The championship procession will start near Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan and travel north along Broadway through the famous “Canyon of Heroes.” The parade will conclude at City Hall, where an official championship ceremony is set to begin at noon.

Millions of enthusiastic fans have gathered throughout downtown Manhattan to celebrate the Knicks’ achievement. Several iconic Knicks figures are expected to participate in the festivities, including franchise legends Walt “Clyde” Frazier, who helped lead the team to championships in the 1970s, and Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing. Veteran broadcaster Mike Breen, the longtime play-by-play voice of the Knicks on MSG Network, is also expected to serve as the master of ceremonies during the City Hall event.

Adding to the excitement, Grammy Award-winning singer Alicia Keys is expected to perform during the celebration. In a video shared on Instagram, Keys spoke with Knicks forward OG Anunoby about the event. When asked if she would take part, she enthusiastically responded, “How could I not? This is my city, and the city’s on fire.”

To accommodate the parade and ensure public safety, several subway stations were closed beginning at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday and will reopen after the event concludes. The affected stations include Wall Street (4, 5), City Hall (R, W), Bowling Green (4, 5), Fulton Street (4, 5, J, Z, 2, 3), Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall (4, 5, 6), and Chambers Street (J, Z). Park Place (2, 3) remains open, although some entrances and exits may be temporarily unavailable.

The New York City Police Department issued an official fan advisory, announcing early Thursday morning that all designated viewing pens had reached capacity. Authorities warned that no additional spectators would be admitted and that anyone leaving the viewing areas would not be permitted to re-enter. The NYPD also reminded travelers that no trains would be stopping south of Canal Street in Manhattan during the parade.

Fans attending the event are prohibited from bringing bags, glass or metal containers, chairs, drones, pets, or weapons. With temperatures expected to climb into the upper 80s, city officials are urging everyone to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and bring plastic water bottles.
