Korangi No. 5 flyover opens to traffic

Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab have inaugurated the newly constructed flyover at Korangi No. 5.

The project is aimed at improving traffic movement in one of Karachi’s busy areas. It is also expected to make daily commuting easier for residents and workers travelling through Korangi.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Murtaza Wahab highlighted several infrastructure projects completed in Karachi.

He said the Korangi 2.5 Bridge was constructed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He added that the Azizabad flyover was also built to provide better transport facilities to citizens.

Wahab said the Shahrah-e-Bhutto project had also been completed by the PPP. According to him, the project has helped improve the city’s traffic system and provided an additional route for commuters.

The mayor also spoke about development plans for Karachi’s industrial areas. He said the government had taken five important measures to encourage the establishment of industries and improve facilities for businesses.

Wahab said Rs2 billion was being spent on development works in Landhi. Another Rs2 billion would be invested in the Korangi Industrial Area.

He said the development of industrial areas was important for strengthening economic activity in the city. Better roads and infrastructure, he added, would also support businesses and facilitate the movement of workers and goods.

The mayor stressed the need for collective efforts to improve Karachi. He said the development of the city could not be achieved by one institution or group alone.

“Everyone will have to work together to develop Karachi, Sindh and the country,” Wahab said.

He added that transforming Karachi into a better and more developed city was a shared responsibility. Protecting the city from divisive and prejudiced elements should also remain a common objective, he said.

Wahab said continued investment in infrastructure was necessary to address Karachi’s long-standing transport and development challenges.
