A 10-year-old girl from Pakpattan has been rescued from a house in Lahore’s Garden Town area following allegations of prolonged physical abuse, food deprivation and unlawful confinement. According to the supplied report medical examinations documented 14 injuries while doctors also identified malnutrition anaemia and signs of psychological trauma.
The child identified as Amina was reportedly sent to Lahore through a local intermediary who promised her family that she would work as a babysitter and attend school. Her father, Muhammad Boota, said the family had been assured she would be properly cared for. However, he alleged that they were unable to speak to her for three months.
According to the first information report (FIR), Amina was allegedly subjected to repeated beatings, burns and inadequate food during her five-month stay at the residence. Her father approached the police after finding her in a distressed condition.
Medical examinations at Jinnah Hospital reportedly identified bruises burn injuries and marks consistent with repeated physical violence. Doctors also noted dehydration, anaemia and nutritional deficiencies. A subsequent medical board assessment described signs of psychological distress and recommended continued hospital treatment nutritional support and counselling.
Police registered a case on October 23, 2026, under provisions relating to child cruelty wrongful confinement, bodily injuries and criminal intimidation. The report names Aamir Liaquat and his brother, Babar Liaquat as accused while the alleged intermediary, Bashir Masih, remains wanted, according to the supplied account. The allegations have yet to be established in court.
Police officials said the girl was recovered during a raid and that the investigation was continuing. Investigators reportedly seized CCTV equipment and are examining potential forensic evidence. Authorities are also looking into whether other household members were involved.
The Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau has taken responsibility for Amina’s care and arranged psychological support. Officials are also investigating claims that the intermediary may have connected other girls with domestic-work placements.
On October 24, a judicial magistrate reportedly granted police two days of physical remand for the arrested suspects. The court also directed that Amina be produced for a statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on October 26.
The case has renewed concerns about the protection of children employed in domestic work. The Punjab Domestic Workers Act 2019 prohibits employing children under 15 in domestic work. Child-rights advocates say stronger enforcement monitoring of recruitment agents and effective reporting mechanisms are necessary to prevent similar incidents.
