Lahore Police has made a major breakthrough in the case involving the alleged assault of a foreign national in Defence-C,

LAHORE: Lahore Police has made a major breakthrough in the case involving the alleged assault of a foreign national in Defence-C, arresting the main accused within 48 hours and recovering the vehicle allegedly used in the incident.

According to police sources, investigators have also arrested three alleged facilitators, while raids are continuing to trace other suspects linked to the case.

The investigation was launched immediately after the complaint was received at Defence-C Police Station. DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza and DIG Operations Faisal Kamran directed the formation of a special team under SP Cantt Asim Iftikhar.

The team included personnel from the Crime Control Department, Operations and Investigation wings and worked on the case using intelligence gathering, technical surveillance and geo-fencing.

White car provides key lead

Investigators identified a white car allegedly connected with the incident as a major lead in the case. Police subsequently traced and recovered the vehicle, which was reportedly owned by accused Tanveer.

The vehicle was shifted to Defence-C Police Station for forensic examination. Investigators are examining it for evidence that could help establish the sequence of events and identify other individuals allegedly involved.

Police sources said the recovery of the vehicle helped investigators move forward in what was initially being treated as a difficult or “blind” case.

Main accused and facilitators

During raids conducted in Sunder, Defence and adjoining housing societies, police arrested the main accused, identified as Mohsin.

Investigators have also identified three principal suspects as Mohsin, Ahmed Tanveer and Zain. Police have detained a number of other suspects for questioning and arrested three alleged facilitators.

Among those arrested is a woman suspected by investigators of having played a role in bringing the victim into contact with the suspects. Police are questioning the detained individuals to establish their respective roles and determine whether further arrests are required.

Victim’s medical and judicial procedures completed

Police said the 20-year-old foreign national underwent a medico-legal examination following the complaint. The medical findings have been included in the investigation record and will be assessed alongside other forensic evidence.

The victim was subsequently produced before Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Saghir at Cantt Kutchery, Lahore, where her statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure was recorded.

Police officials said special arrangements were made for her security and privacy during the judicial process.

Investigation continues

Investigators are examining multiple aspects of the case and are collecting technical, forensic and documentary evidence. The victim’s travel history, movements within Lahore, contacts and other relevant information are also being verified as part of the investigation.

Police sources said the investigation is being conducted on multiple lines rather than relying solely on statements by any one party.

Authorities are also awaiting further forensic results. If the remaining suspects are arrested, their DNA samples may be obtained and compared with available forensic material in accordance with legal procedure.

The investigation team is expected to submit the final challan after completing the collection and verification of evidence.

Police officials said raids are continuing to apprehend the remaining suspects and determine the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case remains under investigation, while Lahore Police has maintained that all available scientific, forensic and legal evidence will be examined before the prosecution is finalised.
