No Karachi student makes MDCAT top 20

The results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Sindh have been announced, with students from Tharparkar securing prominent positions among the top performers.

According to officials of Sukkur IBA University, 33,336 candidates appeared for the examination across Sindh, while 16,507 candidates were declared successful. The overall pass rate stood at 49.5 per cent.

No student from Karachi secured a place in the top 20. Five students from Tharparkar, however, featured among the top 20 candidates. The high-performing students obtained between 176 and 179 marks out of 180.

Tharparkar also recorded a strong presence among the top 50 candidates, with 12 students making the list. The district’s performance was particularly notable given the number of candidates who appeared from the area.

In Karachi, 5,492 out of 9,505 candidates passed the examination. Eighteen Karachi students secured positions among the top 100, while 111 made it into the top 500.

In Tharparkar, 613 out of 1,027 candidates were declared successful.

The results also showed varying success rates across other districts. In Larkana, 623 candidates passed out of 1,410, while 571 out of 1,262 candidates were successful in Mirpurkhas.

In Sukkur, 503 out of 984 candidates passed the test. Hyderabad recorded 652 successful candidates out of 1,611, while 970 out of 2,189 candidates passed in Khairpur.

In Dadu, 669 out of 1,441 candidates were declared successful. In Shaheed Benazirabad, 630 out of 1,485 candidates passed the examination.

In Thatta, 181 out of 398 candidates were successful.

Officials said the passing marks for admission to MBBS programmes through the MDCAT were set at 99 out of 180. The results provide a district-wise picture of candidates’ performance in the medical entrance examination across Sindh.
