LHC resumes regular hearings after summer recess

According to the judges’ roster issued after approval by the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, 28 judges will hear cases as single benches at the principal

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has resumed regular hearings of cases following the conclusion of the summer vacation, with hearings of cases of all categories commencing from today.

According to the judges’ roster issued after approval by the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, 28 judges will hear cases as single benches at the principal seat of the LHC, while 11 division benches will hear civil and criminal appeals.

The revised judges’ roster has been issued by Additional Registrar Judicial Syed Shabbir Hussain Shah and will remain effective until October 31.

According to the roster, a division bench comprising the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court and Justice Abher Gul Khan will hear appeals of all types on Monday and Tuesday.

Similarly, a bench comprising the Chief Justice and Justice Amjad Pervez will hear appeals of all types on Wednesday and Thursday.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh will hear banking and commercial appeals, while a division bench headed by Justice Shahbaz Rizvi will hear cases relating to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and terrorism.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Faisal Zaman will hear civil appeals.

A bench headed by Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry will hear criminal appeals, including murder cases.

A division bench headed by Justice Farooq Haider will hear cases involving narcotics and murder.

A bench headed by Justice Sadiq Mahmood Khurram will hear murder, narcotics and other criminal appeals.

Meanwhile, a two-member bench headed by Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad will hear civil appeals.

A bench headed by Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom has been constituted to hear tax references, while a two-member bench headed by Justice Waqar Haider Awan will hear civil appeals.

A division bench headed by Justice Khalid Ishaq will hear tax references and banking appeals.

The Lahore High Court has started hearing all categories of cases following the summer recess, with the newly issued roster determining the allocation of cases among the single and division benches until October 31.
