Maryam Nawaz marks World Rural Development Day

On the occasion of World Rural Development Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed her government’s commitment to strengthening rural communities and promoting sustainable development across the province. She emphasized that rural progress plays a vital role in Pakistan’s long-term economic growth and national stability.

In her message, the Chief Minister said that a strong rural economy forms the backbone of a developed Pakistan. She stressed that investing in villages, agriculture, and local infrastructure creates opportunities for millions of people while improving living standards. According to her, every investment in rural communities contributes to a stronger and more resilient nation.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of expanding access to quality healthcare, education, clean drinking water, modern roads, and agricultural support in rural areas. She noted that these services can improve productivity, reduce poverty, and encourage balanced development between urban and rural regions.

She also underlined the role of farmers in the country’s economy, describing them as essential contributors to food security and economic progress. The Punjab government, she said, remains focused on introducing policies that support farmers, increase agricultural productivity, and create better employment opportunities for rural youth.

The Chief Minister added that rural development is not limited to physical infrastructure. It also includes empowering local communities, encouraging innovation, improving public services, and ensuring that every citizen has access to equal opportunities regardless of where they live.

She called on public institutions, development partners, and citizens to work together in building stronger rural communities. She said that collective efforts can help overcome development challenges and create lasting prosperity for future generations.

Concluding her message, Maryam Nawaz stated that Pakistan’s progress depends on the growth and well-being of its rural population.
