Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally congratulated one of the successful applicants of the “Apna Khet Apna Rozga (My Farm, My Livelihood) scheme by telephone during the official balloting ceremony held in Lahore. The initiative is designed to empower underprivileged individuals by providing them with access to agricultural land and opportunities for susta inable income through farming.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister extended her heartfelt congratulations to the 30,000 successful beneficiaries selected through the transparent computerized draw. She stated that the allocation of agricultural land under the scheme marks the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of thousands of families. According to her, the beneficiaries will receive five acres of cultivable land on a 20-year lease, allowing them to establish long-term livelihoods through agriculture.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that although the land is being provided on lease, the entire agricultural output and income generated from the land will belong to the farmers themselves. “The crops are yours, the earnings are yours, the hard work is yours, and the reward is yours,” she said, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring that farmers directly benefit from their own labor rather than seeing others profit from their efforts.

The Chief Minister remarked that it is deeply painful when hardworking individuals are unable to enjoy the fruits of their own efforts. She said the government aims to change that reality by giving deserving citizens the opportunity to cultivate land and build financial independence. She added that wherever cultivable government land is available in Punjab, it will gradually be allocated to deserving members of low-income communities under similar initiatives.

To further support the beneficiaries, the Punjab government will provide Rs. 50,000 per acre to help prepare the land for cultivation. This financial assistance is intended to cover initial development costs, enabling new farmers to begin agricultural activities without facing an overwhelming financial burden. The government believes that such support will encourage successful farming and improve agricultural productivity across the province.

Maryam Nawaz also stressed that the selection process was conducted with complete transparency and fairness. She assured participants that the computerized balloting was carried out strictly on 100 percent merit, ensuring that no favoritism or political influence played any role in selecting the beneficiaries.

Highlighting the growing role of women in various sectors, the Chief Minister noted that women are making remarkable progress across Punjab and are increasingly contributing to the province’s economic and social development. She reaffirmed her government’s commitment to creating equal opportunities for women and ensuring their participation in development initiatives, including agriculture.

The Chief Minister further stated that the government is determined to empower farmers and strengthen the agricultural sector, which remains the backbone of Punjab’s economy. She explained that beneficiaries who have little or no prior farming experience will not be left to manage on their own. Instead, the government will provide them with comprehensive technical guidance, agricultural training, and ongoing professional support to help them successfully cultivate their land and maximize productivity.

The “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” scheme reflects the Punjab government’s broader vision of reducing poverty, promoting self-employment, and enhancing agricultural development. By combining land allocation, financial assistance, and technical support, the initiative aims to create sustainable livelihoods, increase rural prosperity, and contribute to the long-term growth of the province’s agricultural economy.
