The 27-year-old achieved the feat in just 20 World Cup matches surpassing Lionel Messi, who reached the same mark in 30 matches.
Mbappé has scored his 20 World Cup goals across the 2018, 2022 and 2026 tournaments.
At 27 years and 201 days, he is also the youngest player ever to score 20 World Cup goals. His World Cup tally includes:
- 4 goals in 2018
- 8 goals in 2022
- 8 goals so far in 2026
Mbappé has also become the highest-scoring player in FIFA World Cup knockout matches with 12 knockout goals.
In addition, he is the first French player to be directly involved in 100 international goals recording 64 goals and 36 assists for France.
