Michael Dell has defended his wife, Susan, after she was mocked on social media following their appearance with US President Donald Trump at the White House on October 7.
The couple, who attended an Oval Office event to discuss their philanthropic pledge, committed $6.25 billion to provide $250 contributions to investment accounts for 25 million eligible US children.
Some social media users focused on Susan Dell’s appearance and movements rather than the donation, with some posting insulting comparisons.

Michael Dell responded by reposting messages from people thanking the couple for their contribution and criticising the online abuse.
One user wrote: “It’s truly insane how evil and full of themselves people are. I signed my kids up and wasn’t expecting to get anything as we live in a wealthy county and city. Out of the blue $250 showed up from Dell for both of my boys. I will go out of my way to support them now, who else has done what they did? No one…”
Dell reposted the message, amplifying the user’s thanks for the contribution.
Another message addressed the couple: “Dear Dell Family, Thank you for the money in my Trump bank account. I’m very glad to be saving for my future.”

A further message thanked the Dells for helping children save for the future through their Trump Accounts.
Conservative activist Robby Starbuck also defended the couple in a post on X.
“Michael Dell is an American hero, and so is his wife Susan. I don’t know their personal politics and I don’t really care if they vote like I do or not. That’s kind of the beauty of their gift too,” Starbuck wrote.
Eric Trump, the president’s son, also criticised the online reaction in a post on X, saying the couple had pledged $6.25 billion for 25 million children and describing the response as “vicious attacks” on Susan.

Conservative commentator Mike Cernovich also defended the couple, writing on X that the Dells had given billions of dollars to children and that online discussion had focused on Susan’s appearance. His post referred to a $7 billion donation, although the announced pledge was $6.25 billion.
