TEHRAN – Mojtaba Khamenei has said he had a different opinion regarding the recent memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States aimed at reducing tensions.

He stated that despite his reservations, he agreed to the deal after it was approved through consensus by President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Supreme National Security Council.

He clarified that any future talks with the United States may continue at an individual level. However, he stressed that this does not mean Iran accepts the American position or its demands.

Mojtaba Khamenei warned that Iran will not accept excessive or unreasonable conditions from the United States. He said such demands would be firmly rejected.

He further noted that Iranian officials assured him that the country’s rights and the interests of the so-called resistance front would be fully protected.

Following these assurances, he said he permitted the signing of the memorandum despite his earlier disagreement.

The statement highlights internal differences within Iran’s leadership but also shows a unified decision to proceed with the agreement amid ongoing diplomatic developments with Washington.
