Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has made fresh revelations about her troubled relationship with PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar, speaking about what she alleges is his attitude toward women within his family.
Momina discussed the matter during a recent appearance on Rehan Tariq’s podcast, where she addressed several claims surrounding the ongoing dispute. She alleged that the environment in Chadhar’s family shaped his attitude toward women and suggested that certain forms of mistreatment were considered normal in that environment.
The actress made particularly serious allegations about violence against women, claiming that women in the family had allegedly been subjected to physical abuse. She argued that someone raised around such behaviour could potentially develop a sense of entitlement toward women and carry those attitudes into other relationships.
Momina connected these comments to her own experience, saying that rejection should be respected regardless of the circumstances. She maintained that ending a relationship does not give another person the right to control, threaten or mistreat a woman.
Her comments come amid a much-publicized dispute between the actress and Chadhar. In May, Momina approached authorities with allegations of harassment, blackmail and death threats. Dawn reported that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency later registered a case against Chadhar following her complaint. The FIR included allegations of cyber harassment, stalking, criminal intimidation, blackmail and threats. Chadhar subsequently secured interim pre-arrest bail.
The dispute has continued to develop, with both sides presenting sharply different versions of events. Chadhar has denied Momina’s characterization of their relationship and has publicly made his own claims about their past association. Dawn previously reported that he described the matter as a long-standing friendship rather than harassment.
Momina also revealed that she had supported Chadhar during his political campaign, including helping with his appearance and arranging professional shoots. She said she believed his appearance changed considerably during that period. According to her account, their relationship later deteriorated and she decided she wanted to move on.
The actress has repeatedly emphasized that her allegations concern serious matters and should not be reduced to discussions about a former relationship. Her latest comments have therefore added another dimension to an already complicated public dispute.
The allegations remain contested, and the legal proceedings are ongoing. A recent report said a Joint Investigation Team had cleared Chadhar and his wife, a decision Momina and her family have said they intend to challenge.
As both sides continue to present their accounts, Momina’s latest interview has once again brought questions about women’s safety, consent and the importance of respecting personal boundaries into the spotlight
